Button alkaline (LR / AG)

LR1130 battery: equivalents & specs

The LR1130 is a 1.5 volt alkaline button cell, 11.6 mm wide and 3.1 mm tall. AG10, LR54 and 189 are the same battery. If your device came with a 389 or 390, that is the silver-oxide SR1130 in the same size, and it is the better replacement for watches.

  • SR1130 / 389: Silver-oxide equivalent (389 high drain, 390 low drain) with flat voltage and more capacity.

Buying and replacement notes

This size causes more confusion than most because the IEC name changed: older packaging says LR54 while newer stock says LR1130, and both are correct for the same cell. Laser pointers commonly take three of them stacked. For watches, buy the silver-oxide 389 or 390 instead; alkaline voltage sag makes quartz movements drift or stop early even when the cell still has charge left.

⚠️ Keep away from children. Swallowed button batteries, especially 20 mm lithium coins, cause severe injury within hours. If a child swallows one, call the 24/7 National Battery Ingestion Hotline (US) at 800-498-8666 or poison control at 800-222-1222 immediately. What every parent should know.

Frequently asked questions

Are LR1130 and LR54 the same battery?
Yes. LR54 is the older IEC-style name and LR1130 the newer dimensional one for the identical 1.5 V alkaline cell, 11.6 mm across and 3.1 mm tall. AG10, L1131, 189 and G10 all describe the same battery as well.
Can I use a 389 instead of an LR1130?
Yes. The 389 is the silver-oxide SR1130W in exactly the same 11.6 x 3.1 mm size. It costs a little more but holds a flat 1.55 V and delivers around 80 mAh versus roughly 60 mAh for the alkaline, so watches and meters run longer on it.
Is the LR1130 the same as the LR44?
No. They share the 11.6 mm diameter but the LR1130 is only 3.1 mm tall while the LR44 is 5.4 mm. They are not interchangeable; an LR44 will not close inside an LR1130 compartment. Always match the height printed in your device manual.
