Coin lithium (CR)

CR927 battery: equivalents & specs

The CR927 is one of the smallest 3 volt lithium coin cells: 9.5 mm across and 2.7 mm tall with about 30 mAh. It shows up in blinking LED novelties, light-up jewelry and a few very small watches, and has no substitute in other chemistries.

Same battery, other names

Every code below is the exact same cell as CR927. Any of them will fit and work identically.

⚠️ 3 V lithium and 1.55 V silver cells share this footprint. A CR927 in a slot meant for an SR927/395 will overdrive and can damage the movement.

Buying and replacement notes

This size is mostly bought in bulk multi-packs for LED projects and novelty gear. Quality varies widely between no-name packs; if a device matters, pay for a Panasonic or Renata cell. Note the odd naming: unlike most CR codes, 927 here means 9.5 mm by 2.7 mm, the same footprint as the silver-oxide SR927 but at double the voltage, so never mix them up in a watch.

⚠️ Keep away from children. Swallowed button batteries, especially 20 mm lithium coins, cause severe injury within hours. If a child swallows one, call the 24/7 National Battery Ingestion Hotline (US) at 800-498-8666 or poison control at 800-222-1222 immediately. What every parent should know.

Frequently asked questions

What devices take a CR927?
Mostly LED novelties: throwies, flashing badges, light-up spinners and small jewelry lights, plus a handful of slim watches designed for 3 V. It is rarely a replacement item in mainstream electronics, which is why you mostly find it in hobby multi-packs.
Can a CR927 replace a 395 watch battery?
No. They share the 9.5 x 2.7 mm size, but the CR927 outputs 3 V against the 395's 1.55 V. Fitting the lithium cell in a silver-oxide watch movement will overdrive and likely damage it. Voltage, not just size, must match.
How long does a CR927 last?
Driving a steadily lit LED, only a few hours; blinking circuits stretch that to days. In standby roles it can sit for years, since lithium coin cells self-discharge around 1 percent per year. The 30 mAh rating assumes small continuous drains.
