CR1130 battery: equivalents & specs

The CR1130 is a 3 volt lithium coin cell, 11.5 mm in diameter and 3 mm tall, holding about 70 mAh. It is an uncommon size found in certain car alarm remotes and key finders, and it is frequently confused with the similar-looking CR1220 and CR1225.

Same battery, other names

Every code below is the exact same cell as CR1130. Any of them will fit and work identically.

⚠️ Do not confuse the 3 V CR1130 with the 1.5 V LR1130/AG10 button cell of nearly identical size; doubling the voltage in a watch or calculator can destroy it.

Buying and replacement notes

Watch the near-misses here. The alkaline LR1130 and silver 390 share almost the same footprint at 1.5 volts, and putting this 3 volt lithium cell in their place will damage a watch movement. Meanwhile the CR1225 is a millimeter wider and slightly thinner. Read the code molded into the battery holder or printed on the old cell before ordering.

⚠️ Keep away from children. Swallowed button batteries, especially 20 mm lithium coins, cause severe injury within hours. If a child swallows one, call the 24/7 National Battery Ingestion Hotline (US) at 800-498-8666 or poison control at 800-222-1222 immediately. What every parent should know.

Frequently asked questions

Is the CR1130 the same as the LR1130?
No, and the mix-up is dangerous for devices. The CR1130 is a 3 V lithium cell, 11.5 x 3.0 mm; the LR1130 is a 1.5 V alkaline cell at 11.6 x 3.1 mm. They fit the same holders almost perfectly, but doubling the voltage can burn out a movement or circuit.
What can I use instead of a CR1130?
Nothing directly. The CR1225 (12.5 x 2.5 mm) and CR1220 (12.5 x 2.0 mm) are close but wider and thinner, so they either jam in the recess or make poor contact. Duracell and Energizer both sell the exact size as DL1130 and ECR1130.
How long does a CR1130 last?
In a remote, one to two years of normal use; its 70 mAh is generous for transmit-only duty. In continuously listening devices such as some key finders, expect months rather than years. Lithium coin cells hold spare charge well, losing about 1 percent a year on the shelf.
