CR2330 battery: equivalents & specs

The CR2330 is a 3 volt lithium coin cell, 23 mm across and 3 mm thick, packing 255 to 265 mAh. It is the high-capacity member of the 23 mm family, used in some smart key fobs, wireless sensors and electronic shelf labels.

Buying and replacement notes

Capacity per footprint is this cell's selling point: it nearly matches the popular CR2450 while being 1.5 mm narrower and 2 mm thinner. Some Japanese and Korean market fobs use it where European models fit a CR2450. The two are not interchangeable, so check the molding in the fob before assuming.

⚠️ Keep away from children. Swallowed button batteries, especially 20 mm lithium coins, cause severe injury within hours. If a child swallows one, call the 24/7 National Battery Ingestion Hotline (US) at 800-498-8666 or poison control at 800-222-1222 immediately. What every parent should know.

Frequently asked questions

Is the CR2330 the same as the CR2450?
No. The CR2330 is 23 x 3.0 mm at about 260 mAh; the CR2450 is 24.5 x 5.0 mm at about 600 mAh. Some devices offer versions for each, but the holders differ and the cells cannot be swapped. Confirm against the old cell's marking.
What uses a CR2330 battery?
Certain smart keys (notably some Asian-market vehicles), wireless sensor nodes, e-ink shelf labels and memory backup circuits. It is chosen when a design needs more than CR2032 capacity without the CR2450's 5 mm height.
How long does a CR2330 last?
In a smart key, roughly two years; in low-power sensors and shelf labels, five years or more is common. Like all lithium coin cells it loses only about 1 percent of charge per year sitting idle, so nearly all its life goes to the device.
