Compatible replacements

  • Size 312 (brown): Same 7.9 mm diameter but thinner; fits different aids, not interchangeable despite the shared width.

⚠️ Button batteries are dangerous if swallowed. Keep them away from children and pets and dispose of spent cells promptly.

Buying and replacement notes

The 13 and the 312 share their 7.9 mm diameter and are the two most confused hearing aid sizes; the 13 is taller (5.4 versus 3.6 mm) and holds nearly double the energy. Your aid takes exactly one of them. The orange-versus-brown tab is the fastest check at the pharmacy shelf. As with all zinc-air cells, peel, wait a minute, then insert.

⚠️ Keep away from children. Swallowed button batteries, especially 20 mm lithium coins, cause severe injury within hours. If a child swallows one, call the 24/7 National Battery Ingestion Hotline (US) at 800-498-8666 or poison control at 800-222-1222 immediately. What every parent should know.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use a 312 in an aid that takes 13?
No. The 312 is the same diameter but 1.8 mm shorter, so the battery door closes on empty space and contact is unreliable at best. The two sizes exist for different aid designs. Match the tab color: orange for 13, brown for 312.
How long does a size 13 battery last?
Six to fourteen days for most behind-the-ear wearers. Its 300-ish mAh is nearly double the 312's, which is why higher-power aids and heavy streamers are usually fitted for size 13. Battery life falls in winter dryness and at altitude.
Why did my batteries suddenly start dying faster?
Common causes: a firmware or fitting change that raised amplification, more Bluetooth streaming, moisture in the battery compartment, or a stale batch of cells. If fresh, branded cells still die in days, have the aid's current drain checked by your audiologist.
