Same battery, other names
Every code below is the exact same cell as 4LR44. Any of them will fit and work identically.
Compatible replacements
- 4SR44 / PX28: Silver-oxide version at 6.2 V with steadier output, preferred for vintage camera meters.
- 2CR1/3N / 28L: Lithium 6 V alternative with long shelf life and better cold performance; slightly narrower, check fit.
Buying and replacement notes
Energizer's A544 and Duracell's PX28A are this exact battery, a point worth knowing because listings often present them as different products at different prices. Dog collar owners buy most of today's supply, and for that use the alkaline is fine. Vintage camera shooters should weigh the silver 4SR44 (stable metering voltage) or lithium 28L (shelf life) instead. In a pinch, four stacked LR44s deliver the same 6 volts and usually work.
