SR916SW battery: equivalents & specs

The SR916SW, retail code 373, is a thin 1.55 volt silver-oxide watch battery, 9.5 mm across and 1.65 mm tall, rated around 28 mAh. It is the slim member of the 9.5 mm family that also contains the very common 371 and the taller 395 and 394.

Buying and replacement notes

The 373's wide-and-flat format suits slim midsize watches. Its high-drain twin is the 372 (SR916W). Within the 9.5 mm diameter, heights step 1.65, 2.05, 2.7 and 3.6 mm across the 373, 371, 395 and 394; misordering by height is the most common mistake with this family, so always confirm against the code stamped on the spent cell.

Frequently asked questions

What is the 373 battery equivalent to?
The 373 is the SR916SW, a 9.5 x 1.65 mm silver-oxide cell at 1.55 V. Its only true alternates are other brands' SR916SW cells and the high-drain 372 (SR916W) in the same case. The similar-looking 371 is thicker and not a correct substitute.
Can I use a 371 in place of a 373?
No. The 371 (SR920SW) is 2.05 mm tall versus the 373's 1.65 mm. In a slim movement the extra 0.4 mm prevents the case back or battery clamp from seating. The shared 9.5 mm diameter makes them look interchangeable, but they are not.
How long does a 373 last?
Roughly two years in a typical slim analog quartz watch. As with all silver-oxide cells, voltage stays near 1.55 V until the end, so accuracy does not degrade as the battery ages; the watch simply stops when the cell is exhausted.
