Silver-oxide watch (SR)

SR716SW battery: equivalents & specs

The SR716SW, sold as the 315, is a thin 1.55 volt silver-oxide watch battery, 7.9 mm across and 1.65 mm tall, with about 21 mAh. It serves slim dress-watch movements that need the 7.9 mm diameter without the height of a 362 or 392.

Buying and replacement notes

The 7.9 mm diameter family is the most crowded in the watch world, spanning the 315, 362, 397, 329 and 392 at heights from 1.65 to 3.6 mm. The 315 is the thinnest of them. Its high-drain counterpart is the 314 (SR716W). As always, replace by exact code; diameter matches mean nothing here.

Frequently asked questions

What is a 315 battery?
The 315 is the SR716SW: a low-drain silver-oxide watch cell, 1.55 V, 7.9 mm in diameter and 1.65 mm tall, rated around 21 mAh. The same case with high-drain chemistry is sold as the 314 (SR716W) for watches with extra functions.
Can a 362 replace a 315?
No. The 362 (SR721SW) is 2.1 mm tall against the 315's 1.65 mm, despite the shared 7.9 mm diameter. The extra height stops the case back from closing on a slim movement. Only another 315 or 314 fits correctly.
How long will a 315 run a watch?
Around two years in a typical slim analog movement, occasionally three in an efficient one. Silver-oxide cells hold their voltage flat, so expect accurate timekeeping until a fairly abrupt stop rather than gradual slowing.
