CR2450 vs CR2032
The CR2450 and CR2032 share chemistry and voltage but not size. The CR2450 measures 24.5 mm across and 5 mm tall with 550 to 620 mAh; the CR2032 is 20 mm by 3.2 mm with 220 to 240 mAh. Neither fits the other's holder, so this is a which-do-I-have question, not a which-is-better one.

Device designers pick between these two on space and runtime. The CR2032 won the mass market: motherboards, fobs, trackers, scales and countless remotes standardized on it. The CR2450 serves designs that need to run longer or push more current: flameless candles glowing for hundreds of hours, premium proximity fobs from BMW and Land Rover, Bosch bike sensors, thermostats and industrial beacons.
There is no swap scenario. The CR2450 is 4.5 mm wider and 1.8 mm taller, so it physically cannot enter a CR2032 holder, and a CR2032 dropped into a CR2450 bay contacts nothing reliably. When a store is out of one size, no amount of foil or optimism converts the other. The codes decode instantly if you remember the format: 24-50 means 24.5 mm wide and 5.0 mm tall; 20-32 means 20 mm and 3.2 mm.
If you are stocking a household battery drawer, buy CR2032s in quantity (they fit the most devices) and add CR2450s only if you own the specific devices that take them, checking the candle or fob first. Both store for a decade, so overbuying costs little beyond the purchase.
